Shueisha Publishes -next 0rder- V Jump Books Guide

March 16th, 2016. V Jump Books formally announced its next title, the official guide to Digimon World -next 0rder-. The guide was previously teased in an issue of V Jump magazine; VJB is an imprint of Shueisha, the publishing company which owns V Jump. The Digimon World -next 0rder- Official Guidebook is sponsored by Bandai Namco Entertainment, and touted as a "Tamers' Bible." It comes packaged with a product code that can be entered to download Black War Greymon and Metal Garurumon (Black) evolution items, in addition to stat-boosting items.

While the guide does provide a visual list of 216 of the game's Digimon, the evolution trees, names, descriptions and Tech lists are all in Japanese, requiring some level of literacy to read. The back of the guide features short section of pages featuring concept art of the core human cast, and the front contains a small foldout artwork of the adult Digimon World protagonist with Mugendramon.

Those that preorder the game will get access to five special DLC Digimon, a remastered copy of the 1999 Digimon World soundtrack, and two original Vita themes, "ver. Nostalgic" and "ver. Dot." Theme ver. Dot features a montage of original Digimon LCD sprites, while theme ver. Nostalgic turns the screen into the layout of a Digital Monster virtual pet. 

Fans Defeat Mugendramon in Online Battle to Save War Greymon

Over March 3rd, 2016, the official Digimon World -next 0rder- title site updated its Twitter campaign with a new special battle; in order to defeat the Mugendramon that War Greymon had mutated into back in February, fans needed to cheer on a new partner Digimon, Metal Garurumon, and reach 20,000 "0rder Points." (Referring to the titular game mechanic.) By the 14th tamers had reached that point; after its defeat Mugendramon reverted to War Greymon, and Metal Garurumon fused with it to become Omegamon.

Fans unlocked a special in-game evolution item to evolve their partner into Imperialdramon Dragon Mode as free DLC. (Available from March 17th, 2016, until April 17th, 2016.) The 0rder Point counter was then replaced with the phrase '"ExE" Activate!' (“ExE”発動 "ExE" Hatsudou!)

Online War Greymon Mutates into Mugendramon

February 17th, 2016. The War Greymon that fans had so diligently raised on the Digimon World -next 0rder- title site underwent a sudden mutation, becoming a Mugendramon. Jijimon is calling this unexpected change a "different system" (異構築) rather than an "evolution," stating that it's due to some incident beginning in his world. At this time, there is nothing fans can do to revert Mugendramon to his previous stage; Jijimon simply asks them to investigate what's going on in his world.

The mutation is likely related to the mass transformation into Mugendramon previously revealed to be going on in -next 0rder-'s Digital World. The phenomenon originates from "Analogman's curse," a postgame quest from the original Digimon World in which a Digimon would turn into Mugendramon once every in-game year.

New Digimon World -next 0rder- PV Shown in Stream, Nade-Nade Returns

January 21st, 2016. In a special two hour Digimon World reunion stream, hosts X alongside guest speakers Aoi Eir, World producer Shindo Takayuki, planner Minowa Atsushi, and -next 0rder- producer Fujiwara Yasunori, introduced a new trailer for Digimon World -next 0rder-. The preview video features protagonist Takuto and his friends facing down a squad of Mugendramon, and shows off various gameplay mechanics. The PV gives an etymology of the game's ExE-volution mechanic, "Extra Cross Evolution."

"Welcome to the Digital World--or should I say, 'welcome back'?"

The trailer features several gameplay mechanics described in the promotional materials released up to now, including camping, ExE-volution, and the 0rder System. An English subtitled version is being worked on, and several recordings from the stream are currently being processed.

The stream was divided into two halves, with the first hour devoted to playing the original Digimon World along with its producers, and the second to playing -next 0rder-. This is the first real gameplay seen on camera; several mechanics previously leaked from first gameplay impressions at Jump Festa 2016 were seen in the stream, including the newly-introduced evolution hints the player gets when praising or scolding Digimon. The stream ended with the Agumon mascot character asking Aoi Eir for her autograph, and an overview of various current and upcoming merchandise.

A few hours prior, the -next 0rder- title site updated with special information; a new "Nade-Nade" (lit. "Rub-rub") campaign is beginning. Previously used to promote Digimon Adventure tri., Nade-Nade campaigns require fans to rub a Digitama, which will hatch into a Digimon with new announcements once it has passed a certain number of rubs. Originally this took the form of once-per-day clicking, but this newest campaign has players send out premade tweets and other social media posts to Nade-Nade. Instead of the new information bumps of previous campaigns, the new Nade-Nade rewards players of -next 0rder- and Digimon Linkz with in-game items for reaching certain thresholds. The first threshold rewards players with a Chain Melon (an item which extends a Digimon's lifespan) for -next 0rder-, and a Digistone for Linkz.

In its original incarnation, Nade-Nade was easily the most despised aspect of Adventure tri.'s promotional campaign, as Bandai had been known to manipulate the results, introducing periodic freezes on the counter to prevent the Digitama from hatching too quickly, and introducing disproportionate multipliers (i.e., making every click count for 12, 20, or even 100 instead of 1) towards the end of a campaign to force the Digitama to hatch on a schedule while giving the illusion of fan participation. Past announcements have been effectively scheduled to come out on specific dates using these methods.

-next 0rder-'s Antagonist is Mass Producing Mugendramon

December 18th, 2015. Famitsu's web edition published a new article today discussing several recent developments in Digimon World -next 0rder-; among them the mysterious man that greatly resembles the first Digimon World protagonist. According to the most recent story blurb (translated below), Digimon in -next 0rder- are transforming into copies of Mugendramon, and just as the protagonists learn the truth, this mystery man appears before them. The Mugendramon subplot seems to follow directly from a postgame quest in the original Digimon World, in which antagonist Analogman created a curse that would turn wild Digimon into Mugendramon copies, allowing him to get revenge on the player character. Screenshots are provided below.

Story: 3
The protagonists learn that in truth the Digimon living in the Digimon World [sic] transform into Mugendramon because of their "different configuration." But they still have no clue of how to address that problem... Just then, the "Executor" giving off a strange aura, and a man with a piercing gaze in a black knitwear cap materialize, and the story enters a new phase...!

The article also discusses the newly-introduced ExE-volution, and shows the previously-revealed Agnimon battling Lucemon Falldown Mode, highlighting the appearance of Frontier Digimon in the game. ExE-volution is -next 0rder-'s unique Jogress system, which allows two Digimon in critical condition to combine with the player character and themselves using the Digimon virtual pet on the player's wrist.

Agnimon from Digimon Frontier appears!
A Digimon that possesses power over Flame which bears the might of one of the legendary Ten Warriors. Because its "Digicore" is wrapped in the Spiritual Fire which is called a holy blaze, it is able to freely manipulate flames. It is an incarnation of the "Firewall" that defends the Net, and is a guardian deity. Because of its easily fired-up personality, it has a soldier-like aspect that practices mental training with yoga exercises, and its way of speaking is somewhat archaic, like a kenpo artist. In battle, it fights by freely using Oriental martial arts, and accumulates flames at one point of its body with a trick that focuses its spirit, to raise its offensive ability. -next 0rder- Site Adds ???'s Profile

November 20th, 2015. The Digimon World -next 0rder- title site has updated with the profile of the game's latest character, the unidentified young man theorized to be Digimon World's protagonist. (Known as "Analog Boy" and "Hero" in fan circles.) Previously introduced in this month's issue of V Jump magazine alongside the "EXE"-Volution system, the character remains unnamed, but is evidently partnered to Mugendramon.

First Digimon World Protagonist Returns for -next 0rder-, New "EXE"-Volution System

November 19th, 2015. The first scans of January 2016 issue of V Jump magazine were uploaded to Twitter this morning by Japanese Digimon fan @kimi_463, providing a first look at the mysterious Digimon teased in Digimon World -next 0rder-'s TGS2015 trailer. The magazine has one more surprise in store: a character resembling the first Digimon World protagonist is appearing in the game as the tamer to Mugendramon, the Digimon that has been wreaking havoc on the Village of Beginnings.

Referred to as ??? and "the young man in the knitwear cap" in V Jump, he is not expressly identified with the first game, but has an extreme resemblance to the official guidebook art for the character that Japanese fans call "Analogboy" and American fans call "Hiro." (See below) The magazine shows him doing something to a Digitama, and collectively identifies him and the black Omegamon as "those bearing darkness." It's possible that this new character is the one Taomon's profile refers to as distorting the digital world. Direct translations are provided further down.

The much-speculated-on Jogress system has been named in the magazine to as '"EXE"-Volution' which is a "miraculous evolution" that allows both of the player's two partners to evolve into one when put in a difficult situation.

This issue also promises that next month's volume will include more information on the 15th Anniversary D-3 Digivice, which is due to be reprinted in 2016.

Last month's issue of V Jump introduced Dukemon Crimson Mode & Taomon. Digimon World -next 0rder- will launch in Japan on the PlayStation Vita in 2016.
