4Gamer Details Seven New Locations from Digimon World -next 0rder-, Material Harvesting & Town Development

January 14th, 2016. Tonmiha of 4Gamer reports that Bandai Namco Entertainment's latest press kit contains thirty new screenshots on the upcoming Digmion World -next 0rder-, detailing the game's material gathering, town development, camping, and training mechanics. Although -next 0rder- is only two months away from its Japanese launch date, until now little information was given on the actual game mechanics. 4Gamer also has more info on the new character Tsuzuki Shouma, who was previously introduced in last month's issue of V Jump magazine. The personal quote and profile given for Shouma differ significantly from his official profile, giving a look into more of Shouma's personal traits.

Tsuzuki Shouma/津々木ショーマ
「…特別な権限を持っているのはキミだけじゃないということさ」
"...You're not the only one with a special power."
"A young man whose communication is lacking, but whose true nature is gentle.
In contrast to his love for Digimon, his tenacity is unusually strong.
Because he's poor at talking with people, he often wears headphones to listen to music with.
He's no good at exercise."
The Digital World of -next 0rder- is configured into various areas, such as grasslands, volcanoes, and snow fields. Along with their two Digimon partners, the player can collect various food and materials in these fields to solve the problems of the Digimon they meet in their journey. Unique to -next 0rder- is the camping mechanic, which allows them to recover their strength in the field, organize collected materials, and increase their partners' parameters with the food they cook. (This last point is similar to the restaurant mechanic of Digimon World, which increased a Digimon's stats but could only be used while they were hungry.) The player can camp anywhere in the field, not limited to any particular location.

The screenshots given below show several new areas of the Digital World, in order; the Server Desert (サーバー砂漠), Lo-Gic Blaze Mountain (ロン・リ炎山 Note that "computer logic" is written 論理 ronri in Japanese, but the English word "Lonely" ロンリ is phonetically identical), Absolute Zero (アブソリュートゼロ), Ooguino Wasteland (オーグィノ荒野), MOD Shop Cape (MODシップ岬), Great Fault Ex Machina (大断層エクスマキナ) and Bone 'O Resort 2 (ホネ・オ・リゾート2).

Update: Famitsu has reported an eighth area, Oath Grassland (チカイノ草原).

At collection points (採取ポイント) the player can collect the materials that have spawned, which can later be used to help develop the Village of Beginnings. Food items can also spawn at these points, to be used in cooking. This is similar to other harvesting systems in role-playing games like Etrian Odyssey, but -next 0rder- distinguishes itself by tying the system to city development.

While the Village of Beginnings initially starts out as a small town, as the player invites Digimon to rejoin the Village it will gradually develop into a lively city with commercial, agricultural, research, and entertainment districts.

Digimon World -next 0rder- will launch in Japan March 17th, 2016, on the PlayStation Vita for 6,980 yen (7,539 JPY after tax). It is the latest entry in the World series, succeeding directly from Re:Digitize Decode on the 3DS, Re:Digitize on the PSP, and World on the PSX. Those that preorder the game will get access to five special DLC Digimon, a remastered copy of the 1999 Digimon World soundtrack, and two original Vita themes, "ver. Nostalgic" and "ver. Dot." Theme ver. Dot features a montage of original Digimon LCD sprites, while theme ver. Nostalgic turns the screen into the layout of a Digital Monster virtual pet.

Clockwise from the top right; Digimon have Offense, Defense, HP, MP, Brains, and Speed stats.
Digimon do not necessarily have to train the same stats at the same time. V-mon is focusing on Speed, while Tentomon focuses on Attack. Both Digimon experience smaller boosts in the stat their partner is training.
Training eventually leads to evolution.

Digimon World -next 0rder- Will Let You Go Camping With Digimon, Title Site Introduces Shouma

December 21st, 2015. The official Digimon World -next 0rder- title site updated system and character sections today, introducing several new gameplay features and the mysterious character Shouma, who was previously teased in this month's issue of V Jump and in the game's Jump Festa trailer. Shouma is seen carrying an original Digital Monster virtual pet, not unlike those worn by the Takuto and Shiki.

"A new possibility, huh...Interesting."

The system updates explain how the player can gather items in the Digital World to improve the Village of Beginnings, and how with a fishing rod they can fish in rivers and lakes for ingredients to cook. The new camp feature allows the player to stay in a tent with their Digimon partners during rest hours, where they can cook the ingredients they've found. By recruiting Digimon in the field, the Village of Beginnings can gradually become more prosperous, until it eventually grows into a massive city.

The update includes an overview of classic Digimon World-style training, with the player taking their partners to gyms to train their stats, praising them to increase their attachment to the player, and evolving them once they meet the requirements. The player will be expected to care for their Digimon just as in the original Digimon World, feeding them meals and telling them when to go to sleep.

It also confirms some features discussed in the Japanese players' first gameplay impressions of the demo; the player will receive hints about what evolution their Digimon is on track for when communicating with their Digimon, and which evolution they take is influenced by whether the player praises or scolds them. The player, as a Digimon tamer, will also have a Tamer Level ranking which increases the effects of training, food items, and battle skills.

Digimon World -next 0rder- will launch in Japan March 17th, 2016, on the PlayStation Vita for 6,800 yen. It is the latest entry in the World series, succeeding directly from Re:Digitize Decode on the 3DS, Re:Digitize on the PSP, and World on the PSX.

V Jump Magazine Introduces Tsuzuki Shouma to Digimon World

December 17th, 2015. Leaked photos of this month's issue of V Jump magazine show recently-leaked Susanoomon in Digimon World -next 0rder-, confirming the previously-announced release date of March 17th, 2016. This issue reveals the new character Tsuzuki Shouma (津々木ショーマ), who is described as a young man that has trouble communicating with people, but loves Digimon and has a gentle heart.

The main topic of this month is -next 0rder-'s adventure system, which is broken down into two parts: town development in the Village of Beginnings, and field exploration outside of it. In the field the player can discover items that can then be brought back and installed in the town, to aid in its reconstruction. The training features of past Digimon World games return, enabling the player to evolve their Digimon in what is described a simple and accessible system. The player thus proceeds in an exchange, training and evolving their Digimon in town before going out to search for resources that can then be brought back to the Village of Beginnings.

V Jump also covers the preorder bonuses for the -next 0rder-, which include a reprint of the Digimon World soundtrack using the original album art, two exclusive themes for the Vita, a "Start Dash set" of items that will help with raising the player's Digimon, a special Agumon & Gabumon Digitama, and download codes to unlock certain Ultimate Digimon.
