Although -next 0rder- also undersold compared to Re:Digitize, (85,817 copies) the PSP's install base was much greater than that of the Vita's. At Re:Digitize's launch in July 2012, between 15 million and 19 million PlayStation Portables had been sold in Japan, while at -next 0rder-'s only 4 million Vitas had been sold in the country. With these numbers in mind, it's natural that -next 0rder- would undersell its PSP predecessor.
Underselling Sleuth is harder to dismiss. Despite a strong continuous promotional campaign since its original announcement late last July, consumer interest in -next 0rder- may have been dampened by the game's moderately lower review scores compared to Sleuth, and its smaller playable roster. -next 0rder- received a 33/40 in Famitsu magazine versus Sleuth's 34/40, and consumer review sites have consistently rated it lower than Sleuth, presently 3.5/5 on Amazon versus Sleuth's 4/5, and 82.9 on Wazap! versus 87.3. 4Gamer's lone user review gave the game a 60/100, while Sleuth holds a 69/100. Only a small number of users have ranked or reviewed -next 0rder- thus far, but the number of stars a game has does a lot for its public perception regardless of the ranking's overall accuracy.
Dukemon Crimson Mode, the last Digimon in -next 0rder-. |
The speculation was in part fueled by the game being billed as having "over 200 Digimon," a statement which had also been made word-for-word in Cyber Sleuth's later trailers. As it turns out, -next 0rder- is exactly as advertised, with no more nor less than what was seen in previews. Almost every Digimon available in the game could be seen at some point in a trailer, magazine promotion, or preview screenshot.
Regardless of how it may compare to past games, 64,000 is solid and hardly dangerous for an opening week. Cyber Sleuth's domestic performance was exceptional, going through 91% of its first shipment. Not every game is going to do so miraculously in the market, and there's nothing wrong with average sales. An important point with regard to the game's absolute profit is that Media Create cannot track digital sales, which means that -next 0rder- is selling slightly more than what these numbers say up front.
Glad to hear this :) I've been watching several gameplays and it seems pretty awesome!!
ReplyDeleteDo you know all evolution chart for shoutmon and gumdramon? rookie>adult>perfect>ulyimate?virus, vacine, data,uk or free?
ReplyDeleteShoutmon has no level but is listed between the last Child and first Adult Digimon, and evolves from Koromon or Gigimon. Gumdramon is in the same situation, but evolves from Tsunomon and Pukamon. Shoutmon is Free-Fire and evolves directly to Omega Shoutmon (Free-Fire) with no further possible evolutions, while Gumdramon is Free-Battle and evolves to Arresterdramon (Free-Thunder) with no further evolutions. Omega and Arrester also have no level, but are placed after the last Adult and before the first Perfect Digimon in the list.
Deleteso its just botamon>koromon>shoutmon(rookie/fire/free)>omegashout(champ/fire/free)?no perfect or mega?
DeleteYes, but their stats and placement suggest that they're treated more like Perfects. (So evolving straight from Child to Perfect, skipping Adult.)
DeleteHey Touya, do you think we can be optimistic about an US release of next order? I'm pretty sure that most people that bought Cyber Sleuth would get Next Order as well, but still...
ReplyDeleteI took a look at some aspects of the game, and yeah, I was expecting more, but it's far from a bad game to me.
some many ppl that bought Cyber Sleuth as their very first digimon game were mostly disappointed on Ne0 on amazon JP review. Well, it's still reasonable though coz Ne0 is not a casual RPG. They whereas compare it with CySlu
Deleteanw Ne0 is still a kinda bad game based on the score, Bamco was rushed.
I'm optimistic about a western release. It's far from a bad game. It would probably have been better to push back development instead of try to meet the March deadline, but the size of the roster isn't something I'm personally concerned with--Re:Digitize shipped with only 74 Digimon in it, for crying out loud--rather I'd prefer that the roster be more diverse. There's almost no fully evolved Water-attribute Digimon, a lot of famous faces are missing (how did Gesomon miss out on both Cyber Sleuth AND -next 0rder-?), and there's way too many Light and Dark Digimon. The ExEvolutions are also very samey, boiling down mostly to gogglehead dragons. They didn't even fit X7 in, and he'd be a great ExE!
DeleteMy biggest concern aside from diversity is that this is the first Digimon World game with no multiplayer mode. World 1 had multiple memory card + controller support for 2-player battle, Re:Digitize and Decode both had local wireless. All -next 0rder- has is the battle server, which just involves uploading your data and downloading an opponent's without actually playing together. I'd like there to be a point to all my stat maxing.
I gonna guess that why the decided for march release was bcos of Tri part 2 hype, they won't release too far from the hype timing
Deletethe review score it got on amazon and the sales which is lower also percentage sales only 60-80% are all reasonable though.
ReplyDeletelooking on amazon serious reviewers, what most of ppl disappointed is:
1. buggy, even after updates
2. so many useless recolors, even introducing more useless recolors somehow (guardromon gold)
3. very short main story (10 hours long only)
4. battle tempo is bad
5. the time stop system was quite hated
6. no option for solo-mode, since some many ppl are hard to adapt raise 2 quickly
7. the stataments from japanese fans that the staffs of Ne0 actually didn't undertsand what Digimon World game is.
Yeah Ne0 seems was very rushed and lower budget coz it used Unity engine. Also the fact that it provides more updates next month revealed that their most of decision making of the game was also too fast.
there's many stuff should be included they should combine great thing in re digitize decode into next order..... right now mix review on next order... the problem their argument was right... and mostly i read so far redigitize decode called almost perfect digimon world..... while next order throw away some good thing in decode.... such as rent house, digimon accessory, poor digimon rooster, long post game story game content.... etc
ReplyDeletewhat i see this... they not have enough time...... i hope next digimon story not being thae over by this team been redone over and ditch media vision.... if yes.. i guess digimon really just turn into another cash grabbing franchise.. and bandai treat it poorly....
the most disappointing thing is their decision on making some useless recolor variation of digimon, also filling the roster much with them. We don't want the orange ver of growmon, silver ver of kyubimon, etc. Most of the models are complete copy-paste from Cyber Sleuth, even they have same hissatsu waza as CySlu. Is it very hard just to transfer 3d models in Cyslu to Ne0?
Deletealso why use unity? it's only for some low budget F2P anime adaptation games, yet they charge the price higher than Cyber Sleuth
recolor is OK nothing wrong but the wrong thing is they not include previous rooster in re:digi decode in the game make people mad overall.... and the whole 217 rooster with recolor proof a meaning they rushing the project....
Deleterecolor is indeed ok, but if too much, it's bad.
DeleteThey didn't even include some many primary rosters from Cyber Sleuth
too much still ok without ditching other main digimon that already appear in previous digimon world re:decode....
DeleteI just hope Kazumasa Habu is involved again in next installment of digimon games, not some random producer with no clear track record. Habu has been working since 2007 on digimon games, even had knowledge not many fans know about.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with the 217 playable Digimon is, if you take away all the recolours, you end up with a roster that is actually smaller than the one in Digimon World Decode. Granted Next Order has some great things but it's far from being the perfect DW1 sucessor we all been hoping it to be.
ReplyDeleteright!... im disappointed they fakin ditch some of previous digimon in re:digitize decode..if they keep it will cover up digimon roster complain and i can defend it with cyber sleuth rooster....
