December 20th, 2015. Anime! Anime!reports that the first entry in the six-part Digimon Adventure tri. film series, Reunion, earned over 218,000,000 yen as of December 16th. The film is presently in its fourth week in theaters, having been extended as late as December 25th at select locations. Several of the original ten theaters that ran the film are leaving open the possibility of extensions past Christmas, as tri. has been at the top of the small film charts since its premiere on November 21st. According to Anime! Anime!, about one hundred thousand people have seen Reunion in theaters.
Digimon Adventure tri. is a series of six theatrical films made in observance of Adventure's fifteenth anniversary. Currently two films have been titled, Reunion (premiered November 21st) and Decision, which will premiere in Japan on March 12th, 2016. For its international distribution, Reunion was officially licensed to be subtitled on Crunchyroll,
broken up into four episodes rather than the one continuous movie shown
in Japanese theaters. In Germany the film was subtitled by Animax and
shown on broadcast television.
December 17th, 2015. The official Digimon Adventure portal updated today to reflect a change in schedule; Digimon Adventure tri. movie 1 Reunion, which was previously extended from its original limited three-week run to December 12th, has been further extended up to as late as December 25th at participating Japanese theaters. All ten of the original theaters that chose to screen the film have also chosen to extend its run, with seven extending to December 25th, two to December 22nd, and one to December 18th.
Digimon Adventure tri. has been a massive success thus far, opening at over 59 million yen in its first week despite being exclusive to a very small number of theaters, and by the middle of its fourth week those sales had grown to over 180 million yen, about 1.5 million dollars.
The second entry in Adventure tri., Decision, will premiere in Japan on March 12th, 2016. The film series has been officially licensed to Crunchyroll for distribution in the west, with each film being cut up into four subtitled episodes.
Some theaters have listed the extended dates' deadlines as tentative, rather than final.

Today the official Digimon Adventure tri. web portal announced that the first tri. film, Reunion, will have its Japanese three-week screening extended an additional week, with the end of its run in theaters set for December 18th. Adventure tri. has been consistently described as a big hit by Toei, and in its first week the film opened at 59 million yen despite being screened at just ten theaters. Currently Reunion is in its second week.
As part of the film's original campaign, theatergoers were given one of several autographed illustrations featuring a different character from the tri. cast; for the fourth week two new illustrations are being distributed to keep up with demand, drawn by tri.'s animation character designer Shino Masanori and the film's animation director Ito Kouji. Shino's illustration features Taichi & Yamato, while Ito's features Omegamon. These will become available beginning on December 12th.

December 2nd, 2015. Former Digimon series project director Ota "Volcano" Kensukeupdated his YouTube channel today with a new episode focusing on the first Digimon Adventure tri. film, Reunion. Ota discusses his involvement with Omegamon, featured prominently in tri., and how he and artist Watanabe Kenji first drafted the Omegamon design for the 2000 film Our War Game. The creation process involved WiZ's Kitagawa, illustrator Watanabe Kenji, and Bandai's Volcano Ota. Ota also briefly unveiled several personally-treasured illustrations featuring early versions of Omegamon, prior to the final design.
The sketches show a centaur-like form for Omegamon, with War Greymon fused over Metal Garurumon's body, and a winged version of Omegamon that wore War Greymon's Brave Shield as a pauldron. In the final design, the team responsible for Omegamon searched for a balance between the component Digimon. Attaching War Greymon and Metal Garurumon's faces to Omegamon's hands was done to help achieve that balance.
Ota Kensuke is the original project director for the 1997 Digimon
virtual pets, who has continued to work with Digimon to the present day.
Serving as a lead developer for all Digimon toys up to 2007, Ota came
back to prominence in 2014 due to his involvement in the development and
release of the Digivice Ver. 15th.
His personality "Volcano Ota" was originally created to promote the D-1 Grand Prix
tournaments, and has remained a memorable component of his public
persona for almost twenty years. In 2000 his character was made into an
official Digimon, Volcamon, and in 2002 given the Ultimate form Pile
Volcamon, corresponding to his "Pile Volcano Ota" upgrade. In 2015 Ota launched Volcano Channel, his YouTube channel where he discusses the development and history of the Digimon franchise. His previous video focused on the Digital Monster series of virtual pets, and their design process.

November 21st, 2015. Following early rumors from Japanese filmgoers last night, a first image of the Adventure tri.Reunion post-credits scene captured in violation of theater regulations was leaked to the public, revealing the involvement of three Digimon in Adventure tri.'s second chapter Decision (決意 Ketsui), which were previously not known to be part of the film franchise. The teaser also gives a release date for Decision, March 12, 2016. A source for the leak has not been identified.

The Digimon seen are Rosemon (with Tachikawa Mimi), Vikemon (with Kido Jo), and Imperialdramon. In the Digivice Ver. 15th released last year, Rosemon was the Ultimate evolution for Palmon, and Vikemon for Gomamon.
October 25th, 2015. In an official Digimon livestream held today over Nicovideo, the first five minutes of the first Digimon Adventure tri. film Reunion were shown to promote the upcoming movie. An unsubtitled recording is provided above; subtitles will be provided later.
Digimon Adventure tri. was prescreened in Japan on Friday, and will premier in theaters November 11th, 2015. While the tri. DVD and Blu-ray releases will be region fee, no actual subtitled or dubbed western release has been announced at this time.
